The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) uses a 100-point system to evaluate each bean on attributes like aroma, flavor, clarity and overall balance. Beans that score 80 or above earn the title of “Specialty Grade”, the gold standard for true coffee connoisseurs. These exceptional beans are grown exclusively at high altitudes approximately (1,000–7,000 feet) above the sea level in selected microclimates. At Brew It by Sash, we take it a step further by exclusively sourcing beans that score 85+, a level defined by the SCA as having “excellent” flavour.
